Indications
Irban is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Warning & Precautions
Irban is contra-indicated in pregrancay it should be used with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis. It is excreted in urine and in patients with renal impairment and should be considered in patients with hepatic impairment serum potassium concentrations should be monitored specially in elderly and patients with renal impairement.

"The recommended initial dose of Irban is 150 mg once daily. Patients requiring further reduction in blood pressure shou be titrated to 300 mg once daily.A low dose of diuretic may be added, if blood pressure is not controlled by Irban alone.
No dose adjustment is necessary in elderly patients, or in patients with hepatic impairment or mild to severe renal impairment."
Adverse Reactions
"The following adverse reactions occurred at an incidence of 1% in patients treated with Irban.
◙ abdominal pain , anxiety , nervousness , chest pain, musculoskeletal pain , headache, pharyngitis, nausea / vomiting, sinus abnormality / rhinitis
Irban use is not associated with an increased incidence of dry cough, as is typically associated with ACE inhibitors use."
Contra Indications
"Irban is contraindicated:
In patients who are hypersensitive to any of the component of this product. When pregnancy is detected categories C ( first trimester)
D ( second & third trimester)
In sever renal impairment when patient is also volume depleted."
Drug Interactions
The antihpertensive effect may be potentiated by drugs or other agents that lower blood pressure. An additive hyperkalaemic effect is possible with potassium supplement, Irban and potassium-sparing diuretics should not generally be given together. Irban and some other angiotensin II receptor antagonists are metabolised by cytochromeP450 isoenzymes and interactions may occur with drugs that effect these enzymes.
