When given with alcoholic beverage, Dilozole may produce disulfiram-like reaction with abdominal cramps; nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing and palpitations. Metronidazole impairs the metabolism or excretion of warfarin and other oral coumarin Anticoagulants, it increases blood levels of these agents, resulting in prolongation of prothrombin time. Co-administration with drugs increasing liver enzyme activity such as phenytoin or Phenobarbital may accelerate the elimination of metronidazole resulting in reduced plasma levels., with consequent reduction in the effectiveness of Dilozole. Simultaneous administration of drugs that decrease liver enzyme activity, such as cimetidine may prolong the half-life and decrease the plasma concentrations of metronidazole and might increase the risk of neurological side effects.
