Indications
1- Hypertension Adcodipine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. 

2- Chronic Stable Angina Adcodipine is indicated for the treatment of chronic stable angina. Adcodipine may be used alone or in combination with other antianginal agents.

 3- Vasospastic Angina ( Prinzmetal's or Variant Angina ) Adcodipine is indicated for the treatment of confirmed or suspected vasospastic angina. Adcodipine may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antianginal drugs.


Warning & Precautions
Increased Angina and/or Myocardial Infarction: Rarely, patients, particularly those with severe obstructive coronary artery disease, have developed documented increased frequency, duration and/or severity of angina or acute myocardial infarction on starting calcium channel blocker therapy or at the time of dosage increase. The mechanism of this effect has not been elucidated.

Dosage
-Amlodipine is given by mouth as the besylate , but doses are usually expressed in terms of the base . In adults: the usual initial antihypertensive oral dose is 5 mg once daily with a maximum dose of 10 mg once daily, small fragile or elderly individuals, or patients with hepatic insufficiency may be started on 2.5 mg once daily and this dose may be used when adding the drug to other antihypertensive therapy . Dosage should be adjusted acc. to each patient's need . The recommended dose for chronic stable or vasospastic angina is 5-10 mg with the lower dose suggested in the elderly and in patient with hepatic insufficiency. Most patients will require 10 mg for adequate effect .

Adverse Reactions
Most adverse reactions reported during therapy with amlodipine were of mild or moderate severity The most common adverse effects of Amlodipine are associated with its vasodilatory action . They include dizziness , flushing , headache, hypotension , peripheral edema , tachycardia , and palpitations . Nausea and other G.I. disturbances , increased micturition frequency, lethargy , eye pain have also occurred . Rarely, allergic reaction including prurities , rash , angio-edema ,and erythema multiforme . Hepatitis , jaundice and hepatic enzyme elevations have also been reported very infrequently ( mostly consistent with cholestasis )

Contra Indications
Adcodipine is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to amlodipine )(.

Drug Interactions
In vitro data in human plasma indicate that Adcodipine has no effect on the protein binding of drugs tested (digoxin, phenytoin, warfarin, and indomethacin.
